Smashing Magazine has quickly become the Internet’s leading outlet of information on the latest trends in website design. In 2008, after only its first year, it was named one of the 25 most popular blogs by eBizMBA.

Challenge

The quality of the content on Smashing Magazine was already good, but article submissions came from writers with varying levels of writing skill. Grammatical errors and ambiguous sentences popped up, and Smashing Magazine co-founders Vitaly Friedman and Sven Lennartz had no in-house editors to ensure that all of the content met the same high standard of quality.

Solution

Vitaly and Sven turned to Andrew Lobo at Edit Owl for help. Andrew now edits most of the articles on Smashing Magazine, cleaning up sentences and making the content more readable, while preserving the voice of each author.
